LRK Wins TxA Design Award for TreeHouse

TreeHouse has been honored with a 2018 TxA Design Award, one of 14 design awards presented by the Texas Society of Architects. The anchor tenant of Dallas’ newly renovated The Hill shopping center, TreeHouse is a green home improvement store offering products and services that promote healthful and sustainable living spaces. TreeHouse is net-positive, meaning that it produces more energy than it uses, a first for big-box retail in Texas, as well as for home improvement stores nationwide. The Daily News - New details are emerging about the renovation of the Hickman Building, now to be known as The Commonwealth. The Commonwealth will feature 5,500 square feet of ground-floor retail, four floors of luxury apartments, and a mix of commercial tenants, including 18,500 square feet set aside for SouthernSun Asset Management. Vacant since 1971, the building is carefully being renovated to preserve as much of the original craftmanship as possible. The Hampline will connect Tillman Street and Overton Park, with a critical piece of the route crossing through the Broad Avenue Arts District. This successful public-private partnership has helped create a safe environment for both avid cyclists and families, while also generating an additional revenue stream for Broad Avenue businesses.
