Memphis Business Journal – LRK is honored to have been involved with six projects selected as finalists in the Memphis Business Journal's 2019 Building Memphis competition. The Crosstown Arts Theatre and FedExFamilyHouse, Phase II are both finalists in the Best New Construction Medium category, Memphis Rox is a finalist in the Best Renovation Medium category, and ServiceMaster Headquarters, South Main Artspace Lofts, and the Tennessee Brewery are finalists in the Best Renovation Large category. Daily Memphian - LRK embraces art as an essential element in building design as evidenced by recent projects such as the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center in Dallas, the Crosstown Arts Theater and Artspace Lofts in Memphis, and most recently Kreate Space in Philadelphia. For Kreate Space, LRK is currently leading the adaptive reuse of a historic school and transforming the structure into studio space for artists and makers. The Commercial Appeal - With the addition to the newly-opened Big River Crossing, the Main to Main project has given a long-overdue facelift to sidewalks, curbs and the pedestrian Main Street Mall, creating a walking and bicycling route for Memphians and tourists to enjoy. Main to Main connects many of LRK's projects including South Junction apartments, Hotel Chisca, Tennessee Brewery, Artspace Lofts and Old Dominick Distillery. Read more.
The Commercial Appeal – With the goal of energizing the emerging South Main Historic Arts District, the renovation of the 107-year-old United Warehouse building will begin in late September. Artspace South Main Lofts will include 58 affordable live/work units for artists and their families, community/gallery space, and an outdoor garden. LRK is providing architectural design and historic rehabilitation services for the project. Read more.
The Commercial Appeal - The ArtSpace Lofts are one step closer to construction, thanks to an anonymous $500,000 challenge grant. So far 95% of the $14 million funding goal has been reached. ArtSpace's purpose is to provide reasonably priced housing and studio space for local artists. LRK is the architect. Read more.
