Urban Land - This Urban Land article focuses on the history of Crosstown Concourse’s redevelopment, the collaborative planning and design process, and the resulting impact the project has had on the surrounding neighborhood. A little over a year after completion, Crosstown has achieved full occupancy, and with 2,000 to 3,000 people visiting the building each day, residential development around the area has picked up and neglected commercial buildings are coming back to life. Memphis Business Journal - A formerly blighted corner at Union Avenue and McLean Boulevard is undergoing a transformation to become home to a mix of apartments, restaurants, and retail. The $33.5 million project, known as The Citizen, marks the first construction of new apartments in Midtown in more than 15 years. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday. Anchored by eco-friendly home improvement store TreeHouse, The Hill maintains a walkable sequence of owner-driven shops. What Now Atlanta - Construction has started on Aria Village, a 30,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Sandy Springs. The project will feature retail and restaurants, along with five-story apartments. The community will have access to nearby hiking trails and offer an impressive amenity package, including a luxurious pool deck, co-working spaces, dog wash, and two-story fitness facility. Fox 4 News - The Treehouse store recently held it's grand opening celebration. The building is net-positive, meaning it creates more renewable energy sources than it uses. The "green" home improvement store is the anchor tenant of The Hill Shopping Center. LRK was Architect of Record for this project, and is providing planning and urban design services for The Hill development.
The Commercial Appeal - The Shops of Saddle Creek expansion has announced 7 new nationally-known tenants including Apple, Vom Fass, Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill, Select Comfort, Lily Rain, Soft Surroundings, and Kendra Scott Jewelry, which just opened for business today. They join major brand Michael Kors, which opened this past summer. LRK provided architectural services for the retail expansion - 140,000 square feet of shopping and dining venues set in a walkable pedestrian-oriented landscape with a timeless blend of contemporary and transitional architecture, all within the City of Germantown’s Smart Growth District. The Daily News - Plans were announced today to demolish the empty eight-story Artisan Hotel on the corner of Union Avenue and McLean Boulevard and replace it with a $43 million mixed-use project consisting of 188 apartments, 10,521 square feet of ground floor commercial space, a 30,500-square-foot national gourmet grocery store, and 513-space parking deck.
