Shadyac Takes Over Soulsville Project

The Daily News – Tom Shadyac, Hollywood filmmaker-turned-professor, recently purchased the Soulsville Towne Center buildings with plans convert them into a recreation center with climbing wall, 400-seat performance art center, and “pay-what-you-can” restaurant. LRK is designing the first phase of the project, a 35,000-square-foot recreation center aimed at giving neighborhood kids a safe place to gather and play. “We’re going to help them to start to dream again, which is what generational poverty does not allow,” Shadyac said. Soulsville Ranked among Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report

Memphis Business Journal U.S. News & World Report ranked Soulsville Charter School among the 2015 Best High Schools that are preparing students for college. The school is ranked No. 9 in Tennesseee, No. 165 among U.S. charter schools, and No. 1,409 among all U.S. high schools. Read more.

Building Memphis Finalists Unveiled

Memphis Business Journal - We're delighted to have been involved with four of the projects that have been named 2015 Building Memphis finalists: Pressbox Lofts, South Junction, Soulsville Charter School Multipurpose Building, and the Walker Avenue Redevelopment. These projects will be highlighted in more detail in a special section MBJ will publish Feb. 20. Stax Museum & Charter School Strengthens Soulsville Community

The Daily News - The Soulsville Foundation advances their mission of building up the community in the Soulsville neighborhood through the Stax Museum, the Stax Music Academy and Soulsville Charter School, celebrating and promoting their rich history in soul music. The newest building on the campus, a multipurpose building, is currently in construction.
