STAX Museum of American Soul Music

Based on old photos and interviews, LRK designed a replica of the STAX Records Building (formerly Capitol Theater) as a new museum at the legendary intersection of McLemore Avenue and College Street. A re-created Studio A, interactive exhibitions, memorabilia and musical archives vividly recount the story of American soul music. The STAX Music Academy is located next door and together the two cultural icons serve as anchors in the economic revitalization of the historic neighborhood.
