Crosstown Concourse: Healthy Building, Healthy People

Memphis Business Journal – Healthy buildings, a relatively new concept, goes beyond the idea of a building’s environmental responsibility to one that focuses on an individual’s health and wellness. While Crosstown Concourse’s environmentally friendly infrastructure reduces energy costs and carbon emissions, Crosstown has also been nationally praised for promoting the physical and mental wellness for those who live, work, and play there. Features like prominently located monumental stairs, expansive natural light, arts and music facilities, wellness facilities, and social- and arts-inspired programming contributed to it being the first project in Tennessee to be named a fitwel three-star certified community, the program’s highest rating. Crosstown Concourse also received LEED CS Platinum certification and is the largest historic adaptive reuse LEED Platinum certified project in the world.
