Elemento Neapolitan Pizza

Memphis, TN

Anchoring a prominent corner of the 1.3 million square-foot Crosstown Concourse, a Sears warehouse building rehabilitated into a mixed-use “vertical urban village”, Elemento celebrates the art and simplicity of Neapolitan pizza-making. The setting of the space remains raw: plaster wrapped concrete columns, exposed brick, board-formed concrete ceilings, exposed aggregate concrete floor, and a new natural concrete bar. Minimal design interventions bring warmth and purpose to the space and allow patrons to see the technique of making pizza from mixing dough to firing in the oven. Light and dark materials create a simple contrast of the spatial elements; metallic accents highlight key components. The imported ovens, clad in mosaic tile, anchor the space and bring it to life, setting the stage for artisan Neapolitan pizza.
