LRK is currently designing a new community center for the City of Memphis to replace the outdated facility (1952) at Gaisman Park. The new Gaisman Community Center is envisioned as the neighborhood anchor for the diverse community of North Memphis. Providing spaces for a variety of activities within the building and serving as a resource for members of the community at large, the new center features transitional indoor and outdoor places to gather and provides daylight in major spaces and visual connections to the park. The spatial and material treatment of the architecture will enhance the intrinsic beauty of the site and will be carefully considered to blend with the surrounding neighborhood and its historic architecture. This effort also includes modifications to the existing athletic fields and walking trails.
