Formerly a family farm of pastures, rolling hills and forest, the 1,139-acre Hernando West master plan calls for an environmentally-sensitive and sustainable community with the character and vernacular architecture of a Southern small town. Mixed-use buildings include apartments, shops, restaurants and offices. Residential neighborhoods offer a mix of multi- and single-family homes. Plans propose preserving the original 1903 manor house, restoring a ravaged streambed, and conserving woodlands.
