Eight city blocks of previously abandoned buildings, empty lots and adult theaters along the eastern border of downtown Memphis now thrive as a desirable urban neighborhood to live, work and play. The Memphis Redbirds’ 14,000-seat AAA ballpark anchors the $200 million mixed-use development covering 20 acres. A new Fourth Street creates a pedestrian-oriented streetscape linking shops and restaurants, five apartment buildings, a 1909 YMCA renovated into lofts and fitness center, and six-story parking garage.
