The new master planned community, Painted Tree, will include three amenity centers (The Outpost | Lakeside Trailhead | Village Trailhead) with a total of six buildings interconnected through an extensive trail system. The design is built upon living with nature while drawing upon the local vernacular (porches | dogtrots | agrarian sheds) along with looking towards State park architecture for inspiration. Responding to the natural environment, architecture becomes secondary to nature acting as a backdrop to the site’s dense, forested landscape. Each building is positioned to nestle within nature, floating above the ground and lightly touching the landscape to preserve the existing natural environment. The buildings establish their own unique identity through simple forms while sharing a language of natural, raw materials and simple details creating a collective series of buildings throughout the community.
