LRK was retained to create a master plan for Prairie Crossing, a mixed-use community on a 230-acre site at a major highway interchange. The master plan integrates an existing Bass Pro Shop and new 325,000-square-foot outlet center with a mix of retail, restaurant, hotel, office and residential uses. LRK’s community design focused on creating a series of special places linked by pedestrian-friendly streets and public spaces. A waterfront district frames an existing pond with restaurants, hotel and upper-floor loft apartments. A main street punctuated by a plaza creates a lively restaurant row linking the outlet center to other retail anchors. Apartments frame a linear park and canal that connect the commercial core to the residential neighborhood.
