Originally built in the late 1950s in an austere mid-century modern style, the parish desired the church to reflect a more classical architectural vocabulary. Inspiration was taken from existing Romanesque elements contained within the church - a new altar and baldacchino was added, new lighting installed, and the entire sanctuary and appointments were redesigned. With a nod to Paris’ Sainte-Chapelle, the new stained glass behind the altar is artificially lit and can be set for “full sunlight” during the day or a “twilight” setting for early mornings, evenings, and night. A striking synthesis of mid-century modern and new classical elements was achieved.
