Drawing inspiration from the 91-year-old building’s history, the adaptive reuse brings together retail, multifamily, and commercial offices with shared spaces for interaction and collaboration. A selective insertion of understated new construction allows the re-imagined ground-floor façade to emphasize the restored terra cotta above, while welcoming visitors into the mixed-use vertical community. Utilizing the original corridor and service core, the building offers modern amenities while exposing and emphasizing the historic structure. Natural light is brought to the spaces through the original restored steel windows. The renovation spreads revitalization east toward two other emerging areas, the Edge and Medical Districts, helping to knit the downtown neighborhood together.
