Uptown Memphis is a long-term, public-private partnership charged with redeveloping a 100-city-block area adjacent to downtown. The $193-million neighborhood redevelopment initiative includes a $35-million Hope VI grant to transform Lauderdale Courts and Hurt Village, two of the city’s oldest public housing projects into viable residential neighborhoods. LRK oversaw the redesign of these two projects and created design guidelines to foster an appropriate architectural character for the area.
