Situated at a major station along the Northeast Corridor Rail Line, the busiest rail line in North America, the Princeton Junction Transit Village is a mixed-use hub of multi-modal transportation, public space, retail, restaurants, and a range of residential uses starting construction in 2022. LRK provided master planning, rezoning/design guidelines, and multifamily architecture for this 25-acre Transit-Oriented Development. The approved plan integrates a range of buildings into the placemaking framework surrounding a new town square called The Promenade. The program includes 20,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, 535 units of multifamily housing, 100 affordable units, 135 units of senior housing, 48 condominium flats, 150 townhomes, and two multi-level shared parking structures. The Promenade is a “curbless” shared space oriented towards the station, activated with public space programming and lined by transparent building frontages that connect to the interiors and courtyards beyond.
